My Approach
I use a psychodynamic and relational approach to treatment, as well as various techniques from experiential, internal family systems (IFS), cognitive, and emotion focused (EFT) therapies. I have specialized training in somatic techniques used for the treatment of trauma and addiction, including SomExSM, and an attachment based approach to EMDR (level 2). Ultimately, I customize my work based on each client’s needs, and the working relationship we develop over the course of therapy. I provide a safe space and guide clients in challenging certain thoughts and beliefs, and exploring their feelings, somatic (body) experiences, and how their past and present experiences may be influencing their current behaviors and struggles.
My clients are some of the bravest people I know, and I find it an honor to hold space for them while they walk the path of self-discovery, vulnerability, and healing. This is due not only to my education and clinical training, but also to my own life experience, hard work towards personal growth, and time spent in my clients’ shoes on the other side of the couch.
I am currently a member of the American Counseling Association, Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselors Association, Nashville Center for Psychoanalysis and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and serve on the Board of the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute.
